He was the last important exponent of Viennese classicism and is considered one of the greatest and most influential composers of all time. Considered one of the greatest geniuses in music history, despite his profound deafness, he continued to compose, direct and play. He left behind a fundamental piece of music, extraordinary in expressive power and ability to evoke emotion.
On the obverse of the coin, the composer plays the piano, and the keyboard resembles the shape of the moon, referring to his famous sonata “Moonlight Sonata”. Also indicated are the denomination of the coin, the inscription BEETHOVEN and the dates 1770-2020. The reverse depicts the coat of arms of the Republic of San Marino and the inscription REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO.
