Silver coin 10€ France 2025 – A Space Odyssey with Thomas Presquet: Saturn
€22.00 includes 24% VAT
Thomas Pesquet is the tenth French astronaut and the first to command the International Space Station (ISS). During his two missions in space, Proxima in 2016-2017 and Alpha in 2021, he shared his scientific adventures, his daily life on the Station, and his photographs of our planet. His travels were also a wake-up call; an opportunity to see Earth anew, its beauty and fragility. Monnie de Paris joins Thomas Pesquet in calling for care for our planet. This collection invites you to follow the astronaut in zero gravity and observe the beauty of several planets.
This series consists of four coins dedicated to different celestial bodies in our solar system. The obverse of the fourth coin depicts Saturn held in an astronaut’s open palm. A star-filled sky looms in the background. This design gives the observer the impression of being inside the astronaut’s helmet, grasping the planet to admire it. Along the edge of the coin are the inscriptions “116,460 km”—Saturn’s diameter—and “10 hours 33 minutes”—its rotation time.
On the reverse, the denomination is flanked by two branches, one oak and the other laurel, reminiscent of the euro symbol. The entire motif is framed by the words “République Française” and a series of lines representing a hexagon.
