The 2024 silver coin from Cameroon’s “Legacy of the Great Empires” series is dedicated to the Ottoman Empire. The center of the composition depicts Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, one of the most revered rulers of the Ottoman Empire. Alongside him are the elite Janissaries, whose strict discipline and military innovations enabled the empire to achieve unprecedented heights. The background is complemented by architectural elements and weaponry, as well as a map of the empire’s holdings at the time. At the top is the coat of arms, a symbol of grandeur and power. The reverse is decorated with a luxurious throne surrounded by the attributes of power and wealth—weapons, treasures, and precious vessels. At the bottom of the composition are a skull and a snake, symbolizing betrayal, threat, and the dark side of power.
