- This Silver coin is the first issue in Cambodia and the first issue in the “Lost Tigers of Cambodia” series. The episode begins with an endangered Indo-Chinese tiger. It’s no secret that Cambodia had to re-breed tigers after they almost completely disappeared more than a decade ago. It is believed that there are only about 350 Indo-Chinese tigers left in the world. This is mainly due to poaching and habitat loss. Indochinese tigers are powerful religious and cultural symbols for Cambodians. The obverse depicts the head of an Indochinese tiger surrounded by lush leaves in its natural habitat. At the top, in a semicircle, the name of the series is minted – “LOST TIGER OF CAMBODIA”, and at the bottom of the metal characteristics – “1 OZ 999 FINE SILVER”.
On the reverse, the Angkor Temple is minted, located in the north-west of Cambodia, which symbolizes the Universe, the supreme divine powers and royalty. At the top there is an inscription in a semicircle – “KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA”. The year is indicated under the temple – “2022”, and at the bottom in a semicircle the face value “3,000 RIELS”.
