The Australian Desert Scorpion is the third installment in Australia’s Most Dangerous Animals series.
The Australian Desert Scorpion, which grows to 12 centimeters in length, uses its powerful claws to grab and hold on to prey before stinging it with its venomous tail. This fearsome creature is known to be large and aggressive, capable of inflicting painful bites on humans. Occupying most of Australia’s arid deserts, the Australian Desert Scorpion tolerates scorching temperatures by digging spiral burrows up to a meter deep. This spiral formation allows the scorpion to regulate the temperature of the environment.
The obverse of the coin depicts a scorpion under the rays of the sun. and also indicated the weight and fineness of silver. The reverse of the coin features the image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the issuing country, the denomination of the coin and the year of issue.
