Silver Coin Canada 2021 – Werewolf

This is the second coin in the “Creatures of the North” series.
Chasing our dreams and imaginations for centuries, werewolves continue to terrify and thrill horror fans around the world. Although many beliefs have arisen around this therianthropic hybrid wolf-like creature, its roots can be traced back to proto-Indo-European mythology, as well as ancient Greek literature and mythology. The mysterious werewolf was first seen in New France in July 1767 in the Gazette de Québec.
The obverse of the coin features a drawing of a werewolf by artist Gerald Glode: a ferocious werewolf crouches low in front of a dark forest, extending its claw towards the viewer and emitting a blood-curdling howl. The full moon is visible in the background, as well as a micro-engraved maple leaf with the number 21. Also indicated are the weight, fineness of silver and the initials of the artist Gerald Gload “GG”. On the reverse there is an image of Queen Elizabeth II, the denomination of the coin.
