Coin set – Maldives

The set consists of six Maldivian coins in denominations of 1, 5, 25, and 50 laari and 1 and 2 rufiyaa. They are legal tender.

The design of modern Maldivian coins is minimalist and reflects the country’s rich flora and fauna: palm trees, fish, a turtle, a shell, a sailing ship, and a lighthouse are featured, symbolizing the islands’ tropical nature and marine life. The 1-rufiyaa coin is adorned with a coat of arms featuring two flags, a palm tree, and a crescent moon with a star, highlighting national and religious symbols. The denomination of each coin is indicated on the reverse.
