Coin Set – Comoros Islands

The set consists of two Comoros coins, denominated in 5 and 10 francs. They began to be issued in 1992 and are still in circulation.

The obverse of the 10-franc coin features a crescent moon and stars. The reverse displays the denomination. The obverse of the 5-franc coin is decorated with coconut palms surrounding the denomination. The reverse depicts the coelacanth, a native of the Western Indian Ocean, one of the region’s most famous natural symbols. These images symbolize agriculture and highlight the country’s unique marine biodiversity.
