2 euro Luxembourg 2026 – Accession to the throne of Grand Duke Guillaume

The coin commemorates the accession to the throne of Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg and his 45th birthday. Guillaume Jean Joseph Marie is the eldest son of Grand Duke Henri and Marie-Thérèse, and has been heir apparent to the throne since 2000. From October 2024, he served as Regent of the Grand Duchy, and on October 3, 2025, he officially ascended the throne following his father’s abdication. The new issue symbolizes the beginning of a new era in Luxembourg’s history and is dedicated to the first year of the new monarch’s reign.

The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Grand Duke Guillaume designed by artist Chiara Principe. The reverse displays the face value.
