The coin commemorates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Cankar, a renowned Slovenian writer and playwright whose works have been translated into many languages and are known worldwide. Cankar not only created his own distinctive style but also made a significant contribution to the development of Slovenian national culture.
The coin’s design is based on the sculpture of Ivan Cankar, installed in front of the Cankarjev Dom cultural center in Ljubljana. Artist Adam Breznik used its contour lines to create a stylized portrait of the writer, seemingly composed of fine stripes and lines.
