The second bank set of Croatian euro coins is dedicated to the largest city of the Istrian peninsula, located at its southern end – the city of Pula. The city of Pula is famous for its many ancient Roman buildings, the most famous of which is the Pula Amphitheatre, one of the best preserved Roman amphitheatres.
Croatia adopted the euro on January 1, 2023.
The 2 euro coin features a map of Croatia and the words about freedom from Ivan Gundulic’s famous work “Dubravka” on the edge of the coin. The 1 euro coin depicts a marten on the background of a chessboard. Nikola Tesla is depicted on the 50, 20 and 10 cent coins. On coins of 5, 2 and 1 cents, the image of the Glagolitic alphabet is presented.
