Coin set – Angola
€12.00
The set consists of five Angolan coins in denominations of 50 centimos and 1, 5, 10, and 20 kwanzas. This series of coins was introduced into circulation in 2012 following the monetary system’s overhaul and is still in use today.
The series is united by the national symbols and history of Angola. The obverse of the 5 and 10 kwanza coins features the national coat of arms with a machete, a hoe, a star, and an open book—symbols of labor, education, and revolution. The 20 kwanza coin features a portrait of the country’s first president, Agostinho Neto. The obverse of the 1 kwanza and 50 céntimos coins features the Banco Nacional de Angola (BNA) logo—a large five-pointed star surrounded by a circle of a stylized branch and crenellated wall—a symbol of industry and defense. The reverse of the coins displays the denominations.
