Coloured 2 euro coin Estonia 2012 – Ten Years of the Euro

The coin commemorates the 10th anniversary of the introduction of euro banknotes and coins. This is a pan-European issue, which took place simultaneously in all eurozone countries in 2012. The coin’s overall design was chosen by citizens and residents of the eurozone through a public vote.

The central composition features the euro symbol against a globe, emphasizing the international significance of the single European currency. Surrounding it are symbols of various spheres associated with the euro: a family, a Eurotower, a merchant ship, an industrial building, and wind turbines.

The coin on display is the Estonian version of the pan-European issue. Its distinctive feature is its color scheme: the background around the main composition is in the colors of the Estonian flag – blue, black, and white.
