The blue whale is the largest animal living on the planet today. Blue whales are endangered today, despite the fact that the geographic range of five subspecies includes all but one of the world’s oceans. All major ocean basins have populations of blue whales, with the exception of the Bering Sea and the Arctic Ocean.

On the reverse the silver coin depicts a jumping blue whale. Captions: “THE WHALE” and “WORLD’S WILD LIFE” and the image of the planet Earth.

On obverse depicts the coat of arms of the Congo Leopard head with an elephant tusk and a spear on the sides. The badge depicting the national motto of Judge Pe Traveil. Also the issuing country, year of issue, weight and fineness of silver of the coin.
