First minted in 1990 by the renowned Perth Mint factory, the coin was the first silver bullion piece issued in honor of one of the most adorable birds – the Australian Kookaburra.
The Kookaburra is the largest kingfisher and the national bird of Australia.
The obverse of the 2021 silver coin features a Kookaburra sitting on a tree branch and looking out at the surrounding landscape. The year of issue, weight and purity of the silver and the mint symbol are also indicated.

The Perth Mint. The reverse of the coin features an image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
