2026 Niue $7 Silver Coin – Queen’s Gambit

The “Queen’s Gambit” coin continues the Chess Battle series, dedicated to the most iconic chess strategies. The 2026 issue celebrates one of the most famous chess openings, where a pawn sacrifice becomes part of a well-thought-out tactic and a struggle for the initiative.

On the obverse, the chess game is transformed into a massive medieval battle. At the center of the composition is a gilded chessboard, surrounded by figures of warriors and rulers: a knight rises to the left, and on the right, a queen makes the decisive move, directing a pawn into battle. High relief, selective polishing, and an antique finish emphasize the depth and sculptural quality of the image.

The reverse features the National Coat of Arms of Niue in the center, surrounded by a decorative chess-themed composition. The lower portion depicts chess pieces, with a queen prominent in the foreground. Around the rim are the country, year of issue, denomination, weight, and silver purity.
