Coin set – Chile

The set includes five Chilean coins in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 50, and 100 pesos. This series is part of the regular mintage of the Chilean peso, introduced in 1975 and continuing to be the country’s official currency. The lower denominations—1, 5, and 10 pesos—were discontinued in 2017 but remain in circulation.

The obverse of most coins in the series features the national hero Bernardo O’Higgins, a prominent leader of Chile’s War of Independence and a symbol of freedom and national rebirth. The 100 peso coin features a portrait of a Mapuche woman, the country’s indigenous people. The reverse of each coin features the denomination surrounded by a decorative laurel wreath. The lower denominations, 1 and 5 pesos, are octagonal, while the 50 peso coin is a decagon.
