Coin set – Iran

The set consists of eight Iranian coins in denominations of 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 1000, 2000, and 5000 rials. They are the country’s legal tender.

Iran’s coins share a unified style: the obverse features the denomination surrounded by a floral motif, while the reverse features religious and national symbols. These include holy sites (the mausoleums of Imam Reza, Hazrat Masumeh, and Shah-Cheragh), the religious institution of the Feyziyeh Madrasah, and symbolic images such as the tulip—a symbol of martyrdom, the calligraphy of Imam Ali, and a commemorative plaque commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Central Bank. These elements are united by their connection to Islam (particularly the Shia tradition), history, and Iran’s national identity, and were chosen to reflect the country’s cultural and spiritual values.
