2 euro Vatican 2025 – Holy Year BU

The commemorative coin is dedicated to the Holy Year 2025 – a special jubilee year for the Catholic Church, celebrated under the motto “Pilgrims of Hope.” The central event of its beginning was the solemn opening of the Holy Doors of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, which took place on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024.

The coin, designed by artist Daniela Longo, depicts Pope Francis solemnly opening the Holy Doors of St. Peter’s Basilica. This symbolic gesture marks the beginning of the Jubilee Year and is traditionally associated with a call to faith, hope, reconciliation, and spiritual renewal. The coin’s reverse traditionally features its face value and a map of Europe.
