Coin set – Taiwan

The set consists of five Taiwan coins, in denominations of ½, 1, 5, 10, and 20 New Taiwan dollars. This series of coins began to be issued in 1981 (20NT$ in 2001) and is still in circulation.
The 20 NT$ coin features an image of Mon Rudao, the son of a leader of the Seediq people, one of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples. The reverse side features a composition of traditional canoes decorated with a distinctive ornament. The 10 NT$ coin features a portrait of Sun Yat-sen, the founder of the Republic of China. The 5 NT$ and 1 NT$ coins feature an image of Chiang Kai-shek, who became the country’s next leader. The smallest denomination, the ½ NT$, is decorated with a stylized plum blossom, the national symbol of Taiwan. The reverse sides feature the denominations framed by traditional ornaments.
