Coin Set – Nagorno-Karabakh

9.00

The set consists of seven Nagorno-Karabakh coins in denominations of 50, 50 lumas, and 1, 1, 1, 5 and 5 drams. The series was issued from 2004 to 2013, with the Armenian dram remaining the primary currency in circulation. Following the transfer of the territory to Azerbaijan in September 2023, the Azerbaijani manat became the region’s currency. Therefore, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’s own coins currently have only numismatic value and are not legal tender.

Through animalistic imagerie, the coin series highlights the region’s natural wealth and its character—strong, resilient, and closely linked to its mountainous environment. The reverse features, for example, the Caucasian leopard, a rare and protected animal; a bear, symbolizing strength and resilience; and a horse, a traditional symbol of freedom. The obverse features the coat of arms of Nagorno-Karabakh.
