Coin set – Mozambique

10.00

The set consists of nine Mozambican coins in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50 centavos and 1, 2, 5, and 10 meticals. This currency was introduced in the 1980s, and coins from this series remain the country’s legal tender to this day.

The design of Mozambique’s modern coins combines the country’s natural wealth, cultural heritage, and everyday life. They feature a rhinoceros and a cheetah—symbols of strength and unique fauna; a kingfisher and an ancient coelacanth—reflecting natural diversity; and cotton and a farmer with a tractor, emphasizing the importance of agriculture. The series is completed by images of a young woman writing, a traditional instrument called a timbila, and the Central Bank building, symbolizing education, cultural traditions, and national development. The obverse of the coins features the logo of the Central Bank of Mozambique.
