Coin set – Paraguay

The set consists of four Paraguayan coins in denominations of 50, 100, 500, and 1000 guaraníes. They are legal tender.

Paraguay’s coin designs honor the country’s outstanding national heroes, including José Félix Estigarribia, a celebrated war hero and elected president of Paraguay; José Eduvijis Díaz, a renowned general; Juan Bernardino Caballero, a veteran of the Paraguayan War and president of the country from 1880 to 1886; and Francisco Solano López, president of Paraguay from 1862 until his death. The reverses of the coins depict significant symbols of the country: the Acaray River dam, representing industrial development; the ruins of Humaitá, a historical reminder of the events of the Paraguayan War; the building of the Central Bank of Paraguay as a symbol of the country’s financial system; and the Pantheon of National Heroes, one of the country’s main cultural and historical landmarks.
