Coin set – Mauritius

The set consists of seven Mauritian coins in denominations of 5 and 20 cents and ½, 1, 5, 10, and 20 rupees. They are the country’s legal tender.

The obverse of the coins features a portrait of Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, the first prime minister and champion of Mauritius’s independence, often referred to as the “Father of the Nation.” The reverse of the coins reflects the country’s cultural heritage and natural resources. The coins feature the national symbol—the sambar deer—the coat of arms, palm trees, a scene of sugarcane harvesting, and the Bank of Mauritius building in Port Louis.
